Currently, the most evolved surgical robotic platform “da Vinci” has been present in the Italian operating rooms since 1999. It supports the medical operation, giving precision and firmness in the procedures of urology, gynecology, thoracic surgery, general surgery, pediatric surgery, cardiac surgery and otorhinolaryngology. This platform consists of three parts, of which a console represents the center of control from which the physician, through knobs and pedals, coordinates the movement of the four robotic arms. Then there is a patient cart that, positioned above the bed, works effectively by allowing surgical procedures, even complex, by means of mininvasive instruments. Finally, the platform has a viewing cart, designed to process and process the images of the operation.
High resolution of the operative field, especially care to reach difficult anatomical locations, the ability to articulate the instruments, and the absence of natural hand shakes ensure the execution of procedures during which the risk of bleeding is significantly reduced and consequently, the need for transfusions is also significantly reduced with a remarkable reduction in postoperative pain and the possibility of faster functional recovery for the patient
